First General Body meeting for the year 2011-2012 was held on 07-05-2011 an V.N.S.S College of Nursing ,Kollam.

The programme started at 10.00 am .The inaugural session started with the prayer song by the students of V.N.S.S College of Nursing, Kollam. Welcome speech was delivered by, Varsha,V.N.S.S College of Nursing. Zonal report and Zonal accounts were presented by Mr. Harish Nair.M , Secretary, S.N.A South Zone.Mr.Ajo Sam Varghese ,Vice President,SNA South Zone presided over the meeting.MrsS.Preetha,Advisor,SNASouth Zone and Mr.Sudheesh Chandran.G,Vice President,State SNA gave the Key note address.It was followed by Prize distribution and declaration of the new executives.

IMPORTANTS DECISIONS TAKEN

• It was decided to conduct a Leadership Training Progrmme at the Zonal Level.As per the interest of the unit executives ,according to the availability of the venue it would be either a 2 day camp or a 1 day camp.(If the number of executives exceeds 60 then separate camps will be arranged for Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam.)

• Contibution amount for the Sports and Cultural Competitions was decided to be Rs.1250/-.

• It was strictly recommended that none of the institutions will be allowed to take part in the competitions without paying the Zonal Subscription along with the- list of students.

• As per the Nurses’ Journal one main theme and 3 sub themes were published for the Scientific paper presentation competitions and it was informed that from a single institution one team can participate in only one theme.
(Total of three teams-one for each sub theme) (Reference Nurses’ Journal April)

• Regarding the Poster Exhibition,candidates will not be allowed to bring pre-prepared posters but the it would be rather held as an on the spot competition. (Reference Nurses’ Journal April)

• Poster Exhibition will be conducted by Holy Cross College of Nursing,Kollam.Date will be announced later.

• Scientific paper presentation,Health Play and Quiz Competitions will be conducted by Government College of Nursing,Trivandrum by 4th of june 2011.

• Literary Competitions will be conducted by Christu Jayanti College of Nursing, Thevalakkara.

• Since there is no initiation from any S.N.A units for hosting Cultural Competitions ,date and venue wil be announced later.

• All the S.N.A units are invited to do the educational sessions ,to be conducted after the Zonal level Competitions.

S.N.A SOUTH ZONE 2011-12 COMPETITIONS

S.N.A South Zone has decided to conduct sports competitions for the year 2011-12 on 26th and 27th of May 2011.
Shuttle Competitions will be held on 26th May at Padmanabha Indoor Court,Near Golf Club,Kowdiar.
Other Sports competitions will be held at Chandrasekharan Nair STadium,Palayam on 27th of May.

Public Awareness Day- May 7 2010

State S.N.A gave us the intimation to conduct Public Health Awareness Programme on May 7th which was usually organized on August till last year with the theme being
‘PREVENTION OF NEWLY EMERGING DISEASES'
In our Zonal level it was decided that SNA units of the neighboring areas will join together to celebrate the day in a very effective manner so that we can cover the entire areas of Trivandrum and Kollam.

South Zonal Poster exhibition & Health Play competitions started at 9.30 am with the prayer. Welcome speech was delivered by Mr.Harish Nair.M South Zonal Secretary,Presidential address was delivered by Mr.Ajo Sam Varghese,South Zonal Vice President and Vote Of Thanks was delivered by Mr.Jai Krishnan Nair,Programme Chairperson. The competitions started by 10.00am.

Paper Presentation and Writing Competitions

The S.N.A South Zonal scientific paper presentation,writing competitions,recitation and elocution competitions are decided to be conducted on June 21st ,Monday at GOVT COLLEGE OF NURSING,TRIVANDRUM.
The competition items and the guidelines for participation in those items are being attached with this letter.
Competition items and rules are-
• On the spot painting. (Time 2 hours)
• Floor decoration. (Time 2 hours)
• Pencil drawing.( Time 2 hours)
• Cartoon drawing.(30 Minutes)
• Essay Writing.(English and Malayalam- 30 Minutes)
• Elocution.( English and Malayalam -5 Minutes)
• Recitation.
Theme for the scientific paper presentation is” Delivering Quality, Serving Communities: Nurses Leading Chronic Care”.
Paper should contain
1) Introduction 2) Objective 3) Review of literature 4) Description of methods and procedures
5) Findings 6) Interpretation 7) Conclusion 8) Recommendation 9) Bibliography.

Total time for presentation is 15 minutes (Presentation 13 minutes, Interaction 2 minutes).

S.N.A South Zonal Arts competitions have been decided to be conducted on July 2nd 2010,at Vailopilly Samskriti Bhavan,Trivandrum

There is no spot registration being done for the arts competitions and those participants and units who need to participate in the competitions should sent their name and the items respectively that they would like to participate in.

Chief guest was Sri.S.K.Radhakrishnan,Kalamandalam.Welcome speech was delivered by Mr.Harish Nair.M South Zonal Secretary,Presidential address was delivered by Mr.Ajo Sam Varghese,South Zonal Vice President.Sr.Gabriella Illikal provided an extra energy to the situation.Programme was announced to be inaugrated by lighting the lamp.Vote Of Thanks was delivered by Mr.Jaikrishnan Nair,Zonal Programme Chairperson.
